The City Council Finance Committee (at their meeting on Wednesday , February 17) requested an update on the relocation of the Urban League and questioned why the Urban League is still in the building after four months, . Attorney Pikula reported that the city is following the Mass General Laws as they apply to Eminent Domain. The Relocation Specialist is aware of the occupancy requirements for the Library Department. The City Council wants to move this process along, and has requested a timeline from March-May. The City Council has requested that a report be submitted by the Law Department before the next meeting and that the report be sent to the media to keep the community informed. Several residents, including Ruth Loving and Mo Jones, expressed their extreme frustration with the process.
Thanks to Commissioner O'Connor, Liz Stevens and Kat Wright for attending and speaking at the meeting.
